Jan Rauch, Junior Professor of Didactics of Social Studies/Politics and Society (FAU), has led a project course in recent semesters.
Entitled “I could have seen the murderers. From the courtyard of my school.” the students worked together with pupils to design the memorial and learning site at the scene of İsmail Yaşar’s murder. This project has now been honoured with theMosaic Youth Prize (1st place). The prize money of 4,500 euros goes to the project of the Scharrer Middle School in cooperation with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Didactics of Social Studies). In the extensive memorial site project, pupils and students work together independently and creatively to design the memorial site for İsmail Yaşar, who was murdered in his snack stall in the immediate vicinity of the school.
The students and Jan Rauch will be awarded the prize by the Lord Mayors of Munich and Nuremberg on 18 March at 17:00 in Munich.
