“Human Rights and Investor-State Dispute Settlement”
June 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Wetterkreuz 15, Erlangen (Tennenlohe) Room No. 00.210
We are pleased to invite you to a Guest Lecture by Prof. Prabhash Ranjan on the topic of “Human Rights and Investor-State Dispute Settlement”.
Investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) clauses in international trade and investment agreements have a huge impact on the business and human rights agenda as they give corporations disproportionate power to challenge public policy, undermining the ability of states to realise their duty to protect human rights. The Guest Lecture will unfold the human rights implications associated with investor-state dispute settlement and shed light on how states can address future claims under the ISDS process and fulfill their human rights obligations.
The lecture will take place on June 4, 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, at Wetterkreuz 15, Erlangen, in Room No. 00.210.
Speaker’s Bio:
Dr. Prabhash Ranjan is a Professor and Vice Dean at the Jindal Global Law School, India. Prof. Ranjan teaches and publishes in international investment law and international trade law and has published numerous research papers in leading international journals and edited books. He is currently a Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg, Germany.
