Networks and Knowledge: Highlights from the FFVT Summer School 2024
This year’s FFVT International Summer School on Forced Migration and Governance focused on Climate (Im-)Mobility. A diverse group of 31 participants from around the globe gathered to connect, exchange insights, and engage in discussions with fellow attendees and expert speakers. The comprehensive program, consisting of over 20 interactive sessions, provided space for debates on various aspects of Climate (Im-)Mobility. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Walter Kälin opened the event with a global perspective, highlighting the legal tools and best practices from refugee law, human rights law, and migration law that can provide essential support mechanisms for vulnerable populations. In the following days, sessions concentrated on the international, the national as well as the local level and provided valuable insights on topics such as The Role of the Loss and Damage Fund in Africa, Climate Foreign Policy, Urban Governance and many others. Alongside these in-depth discussions, several excursions complemented the programm. Visits to the Nuremberg Human Rights Center, the Memorium Nuremberg Trials and BAMF provided further opportunities for reflection on human rights and migration issues.
